Home >> General Introduction     Kaifeng Museum was formally established in Sansheng Street in March, 1962. Its origin is Henan Museum. Then in September, 1988, a completely new Kaifeng museum was founded and formally opened up to all the visitors, since the original buildings are old and unfitted to develop all the businesses. Therefore, the establishment of the newly founded Kaifeng museum became a big and prosperous thing for the development of Kaifeng culture. The Kaifeng museum rests along the southern banks of the Lord Bao Lake, covering 16,000 square meters. It is one of the big scale museums of Henan Province with brilliant buildings. The thirteen exhibition halls contain The Art of Stone Carving of Past Dynasties, History of the Song Dynasty, History of Ancient and Modern China, Revolutionary History of Kaifeng, Arts and Crafts of the Ming and Qing Dynasty, Collection of Relics, Jewish Diaspora in Ancient China, and so on. The museum collection has a total area of more than 50,000 historical and specialized books, making it not only an important place to study history but also to visit.
